Join Rory Kulmala, CEO of the Vancouver Island Construction Association as he provides his expert opinion on the current condition of the industry. Rory will provide input and recommendations on his predictions for the coming year related to political mandates, COVID impacts, labour shortages, schedule and budget concerns and more. This is a great opportunity for an invaluable roundtable discussion!
A long-time resident of Victoria, for nearly 30 years, Rory has held several senior positions within both the private and public sectors focusing on engineering, construction and large-scale development projects both regionally and nationally. He also a retired Navy officer having served over 28 years with Canada’s Naval Reserve.
Rory holds an MBA from Royal Roads University, is an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) in BC and is an accredited Project Management Professional (PMP).
Rory continues his work in the industry representing the Vancouver Island construction sector in the commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential sectors with a focus on the challenges and opportunities facing the BC construction industry.
Community of Practice Host(s): Allison Greaves, is a lifelong learner with a passion for people! She founded BuildingWell after recognizing the need for support in the industry. She holds a diploma in HR Management, is a CPHR Candidate and currently works as the HR Manager at Durwest Construction Management. Allison’s goal is to see her colleagues in the industry thrive and succeed thanks to a network of individuals with a common goal.
Community of Practice Host(s): Alana Marks, CPHR, has a passion for people, teams, and community-driven collaboration. She holds a degree in Psychology and Ethics, a certificate in Paramedicine, a post-degree diploma in Human Resources and Leadership, and she is a proudly designated CPHR. Alana currently works as the Regional Human Resources Lead (Western Canada) for Atlas Engineered Products, and she’s eagerly dreaming up new ways to connect, learn, and grow with the amazing group of people in the Building Well Community of Practice
